CANON: Ensemble Stars!
NAME: Tsukasa Suou
AGE: 16
CANON: Ensemble Stars!
CANON HISTORY: Wiki page, mini events, and his appearances; most of them are translated, and the ones that aren't (or are partially done) are marked as such. Ensemble Stars! itself is an idol game that... isn't really an idol game in the traditional sense, styling it more after visual novels instead. Your protagonist is a second-year transfer student to Yumenosaki Academy, enrolled in the Producer course they've decided to test out that year. Over the year, you help stage a revolution that changes Yumenosaki Academy for the better, as well as lend a hand to all of the units for their own events, lives, and etc.
Everything there is timelined to the best of my ability, but for the quick (the bad and the ugly), I'll give a thorough but basic summary of what I can! (And then it still got long, ahaha Whoops. The "transfer student" referenced here is the same "producer-chan" in my appearance notes.)
Sometime in early spring the whole main story goes down; unfortunately, as far as I've been able to find, Knights' part specifically hasn't been translated, but it's referenced enough in-canon that Izumi kidnaps Makoto, a member of Trickstar, for several days and is pretty much the nasty trick that Knights plays during the DDD. The unit's reputation falls because of it, and they spend much of the rest of the year working to get it back up.
Nebulously around this time, Tsukasa has most of his substories regarding cards and chess and what-have-you; he also takes part in a card battle against Koga from UNDEAD (The After-School Duel), using decks made on-site because he got his cards confiscated by his parents. He was so focused and excited to have a real duel with him that he ended up skipping out on eating, sleeping, and even practice... Sometime after this, he asks the transfer student to accompany him to go see an Easter live being held in a neighboring town (Easter Night).
Knights' attempts to better their reputation begins with making sweets (Sweets Patisserie), as Izumi's not allowed to take part in concerts or lives; they participate in the school festival later that same month alongside Ra*bits, doing a special ballet routine (Ballet) . Tsukasa ends up confiding in Hajime about not being able to keep up with his upperclassmen and not being worthy of the Knights name, but realizes that they got there through hard work that he just hasn't gotten to see. Sometime during this month, Tsukasa asks the transfer student to find the missing leader of Knights (Aristocrat and Attendant substory).
Izumi's probation is lifted in June, and Tsukasa immediately gets them into a mess—that is, he goes around his unit's backs after learning about the Duel-type lives that Knights were pretty famously the best at, and challenges Trickstar to one as a way to reclaim Knights' former glory (Duel). He wants to show everyone that Knights can defeat units without resorting to dirty tricks and such, basically. After Duel, he helps the transfer student out with some part-time work (Restaurant) and participates with the rest of Knights in a joint-live with Trickstar for Starmine, an August festival at a seaside town that has a lot of fireworks (A Midsummer Night's Dream).
Sometime in summer, Tsukasa decides to go to a cheap sweets store he heard about and meets Mitsuru, who offers to show him the way (Little Kings). The transfer student happens to be in the area around the sweets shop, they meet Midori at his parents' greengrocer, and have a short chat they (minus Midori) go buy some sweets and some toys to play with at the park. Unfortunately Tsukasa has to go because his servants got worried about him. The next day, he gets into his usual tiff with Tori in the morning, and Mitsuru decides to invite them both to the sweets shop that afternoon to try and help them get along. They, and the transfer student (who decided to tag along to help) meet Midori again at his family's shop, and his mom basically shuffles him off to go hang out with them despite his assertion they're not his friends, they're just people he knows. Everyone heads to the sweets shop, Tori and Tsukasa get into a tiff... again, and Tori ends up interested in bottle caps after Midori mentions them; the latter ends up giving him half his collection, since he doesn't really do much with them anymore, and offers to bring the rest some other time. Afterwards, everyone heads to the park with their toys and such to play, and Tsukasa's particularly entranced by the bubbles he bought.
At the very end of summer, the quest he asked the transfer student to go on (to find the missing leader of Knights) comes to an end, and he finally tells his upperclassmen about what he did. Unfortunately, Leo... is not what he expects at all, and throughout his substories with him (Substory 2, Musical Composition 1, The Paradise within the Box) Tsukasa gets increasingly more frustrated with both him, his crushed ideals, and the fact that Leo doesn't even remember his name—he just calls him "newbie."
The sports festival happens in September, and Tsukasa's asked to find Leo by Keito—the latter wants him to participate in the relay race with the rest of the archery club (Sports Festival 3). Leo's not the type to be easily found though. The next time Tsukasa shows up is for the obstacle course. He participates and tries his hardest, but doesn't manage to. The relay race isn't that long after it, and archery club doesn't manage to get first place either. ...Leo shows up as a cheerleader since he was in the cheerleading event and gets scolded by Tsukasa, prompting Leo to comment that he's as naggy as Izumi.
All of this comes to a head in October, when he gives Leo a verbal lashing in front of the other Knights, refusing to simply accept him as either the Leader of their unit or the King of Knights, and Leo responds by telling them he hasn't been impressed with them since coming back and they're going to do a special Duel-type live called a Judgement (The King's Horseback Ride). If he/whatever temporary unit he can assemble wins, he's disbanding Knights (because if they can't even beat a unit that's just basically thrown together, they're a far-cry from the Knights he knows)—but if Knights-sans-him wins, he'll do whatever they say. Tsukasa ends up coming out to Ritsu about his feelings on Knights (he joined because he admires them a lot, and he wants to do right by them and not hold them back; it surprise Ritsu, who was under the impression he didn't really like his seniors), and gets told that he can depend on them and that they'll handle the hardest parts—which is dealing with Leo's Knights Killers—so that he, the King for their side, can face off against Leo.
Knights wins, and Tsukasa asks that Leo stay the leader—and that he please remember his name.
A day or so afterwards, Tsukasa wants to show off to Leo (who's come around the archery club for once) his skills to impress him, but he can't manage to land a hit (Robin Hood); he's able to after Leo acts as his horse though, since his specialty is actually mounted archery. Eventually they settle down and talk about the cats Leo and the transfer student have, about why the archery club is considered a lawless place (with bonus Keito to help explain Leo's part in playing Robin Hood), and naming the kittens after Knights—Nyaitsu.
Still in fall, Tsukasa goes out to eat with a few of his classmates (Mitsuru from Ra*bits and Yuta from 2wink) at a restaurant recommended by UNDEAD's Adonis (Fruits Parlor); he orders pretty much an entire dessert's menu worth of sweets, having quite the sweet tooth and also enjoying the chance to actually eat ordinary food and spend his time like an average high-school student... even though he pays with a card, which isn't something average high-school students do. He plays the fortune roulette until he gets as good of a fortune as his two friends too, and freaks out when he sees Arashi and the transfer student come in, since he's sure his unit mates would shake their heads at how many parfaits and sweets he got... He ends up sharing with them though.
Also during fall, he's one of several students picked to be "Chief for a Day" (Police) and has a few fun interactions with the others (Chiaki, Adonis, and Yuzuru primarily, since Makoto ends up being too busy to attend the first instructional session).
Moving into the winter months, Knights is asked to do some modeling at a skating rink; this culminates into a small competition between them and two members of UNDEAD, Kaoru and Rei, and ends with the two units doing a joint photoshoot (Dance on Ice).
Closer to Christmas, Knights decides to take part in the S1 live "Starlight Festival," especially since it's the season's biggest event and whoever wins'll be thought of essentially the star unit of Yumenosaki Academy (Star Festival). Due to being busy around Christmas proper, they decide to hold an early Christmas party; Tsukasa specifically learns a little more about Izumi's attitude problems (he's harder on people he likes) and they exchange gifts. They also learn that Valkyrie wants to take part in the Starlight Festival, but its leader, Shu, is pretty sick—so, with ten straight wins under their belt, they decide to help them get together. Knights is able to perform in the second half as well, and Tsukasa has some suspicions about Arashi and the cenotaph... but decides not to press it, at least for now.
There's also the Starry Night Festival, which... takes place sometime around Christmas too (Starry Night Festival). It might be before Starfes, it might be after, I'm not 100% sure. Regardless, it's a B1, meaning it's unofficial. The transfer student picks third-years and first-years from various units containing them (so any units with all third-years, all second-years, all first-years, or a mix of second- and third- years are excluded) and, with the help of Nazuna, creates temporary units in order to help the first-years grow. Tsukasa's considered one of the stronger first-years though, so he's simply paired with Izumi.
The new year comes around and Tsukasa visits the shrine for his hatsumode with his parents (Happy New Year); he ends up meeting Subaru and the transfer student there when he gets separated from his parents. His family usually spends New Years' abroad, so he doesn't get to do hatsumode that often. Eventually Tori and Yuzuru also join up with them, and after a quick call, Tsukasa's parents join them.
Later in January, Ra*bits and Knights (minus Leo, who's off accepting an award for some work of his) team up once again for a live called the Mystery Stage about detectives and thieves, set up by the transfer student (Phantom Thieves VS Detectives). The set-up is that the thieves, Knights, have the stage for their live until the detectives, Ra*bits, can successfully find the stolen treasure and bring it to the stage—then they're allowed to perform instead of being just backup dancers. Clues for where the treasure are are in the song the thieves sing, but since it's Izumi writing the lyrics, he makes it difficult—though that's only because he's trying to toughen them up. Eventually, Ra*bits figures it out (the treasure's hidden in a vase on stage), and Knights become their backup dancers as agreed.
A few days after the Mystery Stage event, Tsukasa comes across the tea club (Eichi, Hajime, and Ritsu) and the transfer student having tea outside; he'd been looking for Eichi to ask if he knew what treasured item Keito lost (Continuation of the Dream). It's revealed to be a manga/comic book called Wonderland Alice VS Looking Glass Alice, an unfinished work by the mysterious mangaka Mizuhanome-sensei, and Eichi has it. He wants it to be finished before he gives it back to Keito though, since he knows the latter'll bury it and he'll never see the end, so they all make believe the story together.
Valentine's Day draws closer and with it, Chocolat Festival, a Dreamfes styled after the Western tradition of everyone giving each other chocolate (Sweet & Bitter). Arashi ends up teaching Ra*bits and Trickstar how to make sweets, so the meeting they were supposed to have about the Dreamfes for Knights is rescheduled for after school; Tsukasa offers to stay behind in the studio to let anyone who still comes by know, and not much later Leo comes bounding in toharass Tsukasa be there for their meeting. After school, Tomoya and Tsukasa meet up while looking for Mitsuru and Leo respectively (the former having ran off to clear his mind and the latter just... being missing, as usual); they fortunately find them soon at the fountain, playing with a cat. They go back to the Knights studio, and Tomoya and Tsukasa end up swapping outfits for a little bit. The next day, everyone works hard on making the sweets that'll actually be given out to fans attending the lives, and at the Dreamfes, everyone does their best.
In March, the transfer student helps out around the Himemiya household and is the victim of many pranks put on by Tori's little sister; Yuzuru and Tori both notice this, one quicker than the other (Mine Lady). Tsukasa ends up visiting because Eichi's here and takes a lot of pleasure inbullying being served by Tori, who's acting like a servant to teach the transfer student how to be one. There's their usual tiff of old money (Suous) vs. new money (Himemiyas) as well, and Eichi ends up subtly scolding Tsukasa for picking on Tori so much.
There's also a live that takes place off-campus—the transfer student collects a variety of first-years (Tsukasa from Knights; Hajime, Mitsuru, and Tomoya from Ra*bits; and Tetora and Midori from Ryuseitai) for a special live held at a mall (Mall Live). Tsukasa ends up admiring and considering Hajime his (friendly) rival due to the latter's kind nature and lovely idol skills. Later on, they—minus the Ryuseitais, who ended up being busy—take a tour of the shopping mall and meet up with Eichi and Ritsu in the process, the former having wanted to experience the mall for himself since he's only read about it online. It's a good time.
He's also mentioned during a story involving Knights having a photoshoot (Beauties of Nature). He's too busy to actually appear except for the shoot itself due to a lot of family obligations, however.
CANON PERSONALITY: The sole heir to the old and wealthy Suou family, Tsukasa is exactly what you'd expect him to be: he's mature, serious, composed, gentlemanly, polite, and proud of his heritage. He's been brought up to show off the best of what his family has to offer, from his education (which includes a fluency in English that's so smooth, Madara comments he could go overseas and have no issues, though his fellow students have trouble understanding him sometimes and he's forced to make it sound more Japanese and/or speak slower for them) to his general quality of life... which includes expensive foods, servants who wait on him and his family, and so on and so forth.
This hasn't made him particularly spoiled though—in some ways he is, but it isn't due to his upbringing. The Suou family treats those who work for them really well, and he's offered Yuzuru a position at his home numerous times, as Tori tends to be pretty mean (in his opinion), but he's always turned down. He's also incredibly interested in commoner culture, delighting in things like cheap sweets, homemade meals, and doing stuff like touring the shopping mall. (The servants usually take care of the shopping, so it isn't often he gets to go too far into the shopping district, okay.) He hasn't done a lot of normal things, like simply hanging out with people his age, playing with toys like bamboo-copters, or blowing bubbles... and he enjoys getting the chance to. He's the type of person who reads instructions and asks to make certain he's doing things right, naturally.
Tsukasa really, really doesn't want to mess up.
This applies heavily to his idol activities, as one might expect. He does extra practice to work on his timing and stamina, but he doesn't push himself and risk injury. Despite him doing his best within reason, he still feels inadequate compared to his seniors—even if he has reasoned with himself that they are his seniors, and they have hours of practice and hard work that he hasn't gotten to see to get them to the level of skill that they're at. His seniors remind him that he can rely on them (or rather, that he should), and he agrees to do so... but guess who doesn't always take that advice.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
He's actually surprisingly cheeky for being a polite young master—he doesn't realize his words are rude when he says them though. He doesn't intend to be malicious or mean either; when he says things, it's because they're his honest feelings. And sometimes his honest feelings are to agree that Sena's a bully, and then also refer to him as a demon, a devil, and so on and so forth. He's bound to be cheekier the more annoyed he gets too—he still tries to be polite about things, but he's also made it clear what he thinks of Leo's flights of fancy and his absence from Knights activities. That is to say: he's upset. Knights is a unit he both admires and loves, and he wants to repair its reputation; he wants the so-called King to be a strong person, not someone who skips class and gets lost like a child and acts younger than him.
His opinion on Leo as a whole eventually changes—it does that for all of his senpai, really—so it's not as if he's solely a bitter betty about everything. He uses it as a bargaining chip though, of course; he knows exactly what to say and how to act to rally Knights into action in general, even if he's flustered or frustrated by their my-pace attitudes about things (but really, he knows it's because they're individualistic—the unit always has been, and while they can unify and they do begin to, it doesn't change the fact that they are that type of unit).
With all good intentions. He wants Knights to shine brightly with all his heart, and if it means going behind their backs to arrange duel-type lives, then so be it. If it means encouraging activities between people they consider their enemies, like Trickstar, then so be it. If it means smoothing over awkward silences and speaking his mind, or holding in his feelings until they come spilling out in rambles that he apologizes for, then so be it.
Beneath all of that, of course, he's just a sixteen year old boy. He comments that he isn't a child, then turns around and starts arguments with Tori because of their family differences; he's petty and childish, and he finds a lot of joy in really simple things, like trying new sweets (going so far as to order an entire page from a restaurant's menu) and blowing bubbles like a little kid and participating in hatsumode—something he never gets to do due to his family tending to go abroad for the winter holidays, but gets Subaru's help in performing properly. And while it's important to note he isn't spoiled (or at least, he doesn't act like it), he adores being spoiled; he loves spending time with people he admires, like his senpai or the transfer student, and he gets called out for being lonely when they're not around. He loves having his head pat and being praised!
It's not really something that fits his image of a gentlemanly young master. He retorts whenever this behavior's pointed out to him, but they're fairly weak rebuttals. He's aware he likes being pampered—he's an only child, so he's used to it for one... and for two, it's just really nice. He works hard to improve himself every day, and getting complimented on that and stuff—it makes him really happy.
SKILLS/ABILITIES: Being an idol, he can sing and dance in front of large crowds; being a first-year to this sort of thing is actually not that much of a handicap, given he's considered one of the stronger of the first-years... That's simply because he works hard to keep up and stay on the same level as his unitmates, who are all older than him—he doesn't want to bring them, or Knights, down at all. He's careful not to push himself too hard, but he does try his hardest not to be a burden and to be worthy of the Knights name.
Aside from the prerequisite idol things, he's good at chess (which is his hobby) and, surprisingly enough, trading card games—he has an interesting passion for them. His specialty is mounted archery, befitting a young man from an affluent family such as himself, and is part of the archery club at Yumenosaki. He also speaks fluent English and often peppers his speech with it, which can lead to a lot of confusion and backtracking to say it in a more Japanese accent so he can actually be understood—his pronunciation is just that smooth... Aside from that, he's picked up the basics of things like ballet, cooking (sweets in particular), and ice skating with the help of his seniors for idol-related activities.

CHARACTER: AU SECTION
AU NAME: Tsukasa Suzakura

AU HISTORY:
all plans have been agreed to/talked about as usual o/
AU PERSONALITY: Polite and proper and fairly anxious when it comes to interacting with people, Tsukasa tends to watch what he says, not wanting to rile people up, and so... he generally keeps whatever sass and irritation he might have to his thoughts. This does mean he comes off as a bit of a doormat, especially when combined with the fact he isn't very competitive.
He also has a great love of animals, particularly large ones, and enjoys taking care of them! However... animal companionship unfortunately doesn't stop him from being lonely. He's a little out of touch with most people his age due to his homeschooling, but he's still pretty eager to make friends! He just... has no idea how to go about that if there isn't a shared interest. He talks easily enough around the stables and to people who come by, but outside of that, he tends to retreat into himself and ends up thinking a lot more than he says until he gets more comfortable with whoever he's talking to. He's... the type of person who watches what passes for My Little Pony here and takes its lessons and importance of friendship to heart.
Because of his upbringing, he's a perfectionist and pretty rigid on his standards—he won't badger other people to do their best, but he will pick up their slack to make sure that things turn out just right. Essentially, he's that guy in group projects that, given the chance or inclination, would definitely do it all himself. (This is either really annoying or really great. Opinions may vary.)
Overall, he does have similarities with his canon counterpart—he just also tends to rein the worse parts in and he... isn't going to start fights with people over their family names, or lowkey chessmaster situations or anything like that.

● His parents moved to America roughly twenty years ago; four years later, he was born. Both of his parents are bilingual, as is he—his grandmother, on the other hand, is only fluent in Japanese, so he's largely learned how to speak it just to be able to speak with her.
● He's lived a nice, comfortable life in Recollé. The Suzakuras aren't wealthy, but they're not poor, either. Pretty middle-ground, especially thanks to his parents' university jobs. His father teaches a variety of Asian history courses, due to his multiple studies in them, and his mother teaches Japanese literature.
● They are notoriously difficult to please and Tsukasa is incredibly sorry.
● He's homeschooled and tutored under the assumption that the best teachers for him would be, well, his parents, so he hasn't lived... that normal of a life. The upside to this is that he specializes in history (as long as it's Asian or pertaining to Asia) as well as literature (particularly Japanese) due to his parents' focuses! He's a good resource for anyone struggling in their classes, since he's aware of their standards and plans and etc.
● He's always been a fan of horses, due to their strong, sleek appearance, and got a part-time job at Churchill Downs stables about a year ago. This has earned him like one friend around his age (Hinata Aoi), but overall, his social life has not expanded significantly... On the other hand, he's been surrounded by something he has a passion for, so he doesn't mind it.
● ...This didn't really change when they were replaced by chocobos. He's on the "I love both of them" side of the debate.
● Due to his love of horses and his work, he's started an early look into veterinary sciences, specifically for large animals. He'd like to work with them and help them better in the future, since they've brought him such joy.
