I am. I have some things to pick up, anyway... [ A detour's fine, and his parents will probably appreciate him grabbing a few extra groceries. ] Shall we... um, I don't believe we've met? I'm Tsukasa.

Oh, sorry! I'm Chiyo. It's nice to meet you, Tsukasa! [ She tilts her head to the side, as she considers him. ] I feel like I should've seen you around school before, but I don't... know if I have...? [ But before she can continue that line of questioning, something else catches her attention. ]

Is that... another bat? Are they singing in a round?

[ She's not sure if she's impressed or not. ]

[ ...Are they? Oh, they are. ]

They're quite talent... oh, no. [ That means their trouble's doubled. He'll take her hand, sorry Chiyo— ] Let's hurry along, shall we? Before we get a chorus going...?

[ He'll lead the way, ahaha, let's go— ]

[ She's a little surprised and a small blush rises to her cheeks because she doesn't know him well, but she's mostly okay with the hand holding. Bless being raised in an American culture to help keep her embarrassment down. ]

Um, yeah, let's go! I'll follow your lead! To chocolate!

[ He'd normally be more embarrassed about it, but it's hands-down the quickest way to make sure they both get where they're going—!

...He'll be embarrassed with it once they stop, honestly. But for now, it's fast walking (because slipping again would be bad) to the closest store. Peeking in windows, determinedly ignoring the bats, gonna carry a conversation because this is perfectly fine... ]

Um, about before—I'm homeschooled, so that's why you haven't seen me around school... [ slightly redundant there, tsukasa, but that's okay. ] I've heard from a few people already that it's not really worth it, anyway, but... What do you think?

[ At least he's used to being dragged around—he's relieved no one stops them, but he's even more relieved to get to their destination. Ahh, and there's a spot for volunteers, let's just go over there then... ♪

He's maybe two seconds into wrapping his first gift when he asks, ] How did you and Hinata meet, anyway? I mean... I'm unsurprised that you two met at all, really... Like attracts like, after all.

[ but like, how. also, at what rank of friendship is he allowed to call him by a nickname, or is that unattainable. ]

[ Hinata gives people nicknames within two seconds of learning their name, probably, so Tsukasa shouldn't stress about it. Mafuyu, though, doesn't really unless she's known somebody for years, and Hinata is one of the very few people who's tolerated her friendship for so long that she has to stop and think about how they met. ]

I dunno. When you're a kid, you're always running around outside looking for other kids your age to play with, right? Hina's family moved in and I went to go say hi. I think that's it?

[ It's probably a boring and anticlimactic story, now that she thinks about it, but friendship doesn't always happen with fanfare; sometimes it just happens. ]

[ That... is, actually, surprisingly normal? Really, really normal? Tsukasa catches him staring at her before he laughs a little, sheepish, and goes back to work. ]

I kind of imagined some sort of wild adventure... [ ...but something anti-climatic like that isn't bad either. ] I bet he was just as friendly back then as he is now though. The type of person people are just naturally inclined to like and want to be around.

We were like five or six or something! Six-year-olds don't care about being friendly or likable— they just want somebody to play with. Even if you fight, you make up right away 'cause playing together is more fun than staying mad.

[ She says that but... yeah, she is still exactly the same way, whereas everybody else around her matured and learned to hold grudges. ]

...I don't think Hinata ever grew up out of that.

[ At least, he's never seen him mad? It was a shock to see him worried, honestly... Given Mafuyu's devil-may-care attitude, they're like fish and water, huh. ]

It must be nice to have a best friend... [ ah. He didn't mean to say that aloud and he pauses before he. sort of slumps his shoulders. MIGHT AS WELL OWN IT. ] ...My neighborhood's always had a lot of older people in it, and my parents never allowed me to go to public school? So I never really had people my age to play with when I was younger, and I don't really have anyone to hang out with now either.

Sorry, that must sound really pathetic? It's not good to have bad feelings when you're wrapping gifts either, or it'll infect the present. [ what kinda nonsense is that, tsukasa ]

Well of course she's not yours. When I say "your crush," I mean that your feelings are yours, not her. Even if you were dating she wouldn't be yours.

[ He's free to, because Tsukasa's not moving... Suu-chan...? He blinks after a bit, leaning away after Ritsu's kissed his forehead. ]

...Suu-chan is from my name and not from something silly like "Suekko-chan," right?

[ There's no reason to call him that here, probably...? Why was he being teased and called that in the first place though!! Ritsu-senpai. Hmm. ]

[ also what if he fell in love with someone awful!!!!!! The worst. With another hard tug, there's another off of Natsume, at least. ]

What would summer bring? Please don't say "giant mosquitoes".

[ Natsume is going to move his free limbs around for a moment, glad to have a little more mobility for a moment. Amazing how the loss of it, even for a short period of time, can make you miss free movement so much.

Natsume laughs quietly at Tsukasa's possible answer though. ]

[ While he works on freeing them further. Not thinking about giant mosquitoes. Nope. Not at all. Giant bloodsucking creatures that could probably kill you in a small amount of time depending on just how "giant" we're going with this, like are they just really big or are they like the size of humans or maybe buildings like in that one giant ant movie or oh god oh man oh god. ]

That is just one possibility. They seem nearly endless, so it's almost impossible to tell for sure what we will have to deal with.
